Gas infrared heaters - BGL relate to "luminous" or shortwave infrared heaters. The existing DBN (state building norms) call them INFRARED BURNERS. Tube (long-wave) burners in DBN are called INFRARED TUBE GAS BURNERS (ИТГО).

Infrared heaters BGL produced by "Thermoengineering" company, gave good account of themselves in the aspects of high reliability, low fuel consumption and a high quality of heat comfort.

Gas infrared heater BGL operation concept

The systems of infrared heating on the basis of BGL (burner radiant blocks) operate on both natural and condensed gas. Their main element is a burner-a ceramic panel with a set of through holes. Gas from a pipe goes to its mixer where it is interfused efficiently with the necessary amount of the air; the mixture gets into the holes and is lighted up.

Combustion is performed by the method of flameless combustion inside of the porous ceramics, resulting in that the main part of heat is produced in the panel itself, not leaving its space, as it happens to convection heaters. The ceramic panel is incandesced up to 800-1000C, and gives heat in the form of radiant flux. Reflector walls not only reflect beams fallen, but being heated, they themselves reflect in some more long-waved spectrum.

Such combustion provides practically a complete burning of gas and of quite a small quantity of CO and NO= formed in the process. Combustion products, carbon dioxide and a water steam in the main, are vented by the mechanical ventilation or by means of inflow seepage.

Application of gas infrared heater BGL

Luminous infrared heaters are widely applied for heating of industrial, agricultural and municipal buildings and premises, as well as for process needs (drying, heating, etc.). BGL produced by “Thermoengineering” are compact in size and are more suitable for local heating of work places in the premises of a large height (creating “warm island”) having basic heating, as well as for open-air sites, inside of the canopy and for products defrosting.

The usage of BGL, as well as of all gas infrared heaters (ГИИ) is limited by the premise category as to the fire danger (only D, E, F). Because the combustion products flow directly in the premise, where the given devices are set, it is necessary to follow additional requirements for the ventilation. Triple general ventilation by dilution of the premises where the GIR(ГИИ) are used, is subject to state building norms. Heating systems with GIR must be blocked with ventilation system, eliminating the possibility of starting up operating the heating system under out-of-service ventilation.
